Sheboygan Area School District offers free summer meals

Learning does not end when school lets out.

Neither does the need for good nutrition. In order to ensure children in Sheboygan have access to healthy meals year round, the Sheboygan Area School District School Nutrition Program will again be offering free breakfast and lunches this summer at eight different locations throughout the city.

Free meals are available to children 18 years of age and under. Meals are provided to all children regardless of race, color, national origin, age, gender or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of meal service.

There is no requirement to register, and you do not have to fill out any paperwork to qualify.

Children and teenagers should come to the sites at the designated service times to receive a free breakfast or lunch.

In addition to free meals, each Wednesday a local Harvest of the Week item is featured and, at the elementary

“Food insecurity [lack of access to safe, nutritious food] is real in our community and these meals help bridge the gap,” said Heather Cleveland, executive director at Nourish.

“The importance of nutritious school meals extends beyond the individual child. What students eat today will impact who they will become, their capabilities and the role they will play in our community tomorrow.”
